Volunteer Categories

These are brief descriptions of the positions available. Further information on each position and duties will be provided at the volunteer orientation.

Course Marshals
(Tues - Sun)
70% of volunteers will be assigned to these positions. Responsible for spectator control.

Security (Tues - Sun)
Stationary position checking passes at Clubhouse, VIP Tents, Locker Room and Front Gate.

Front Gate (Tues - Sun)
Stationary position primarily checking tickets. Cameras, coolers and sports memorabilia are not allowed, so you must help enforce these rules. (Cameras are allowed Tues - Thurs only).

Program Sales (Tues - Sun)
Stationary position at the front gate and near volunteer tent. Good math & organizational skills needed.

Scoring (All Scoring Fri, Sat & Sun Only)
NOTE: Scoring experience mandatory

Walking Scorer - Will walk with each group and mark scores. Reports to scorekeeper/hole reporter. You must be able to walk the course and have a working knowledge of golf and the scoring system.

Scoring Control - Stationary position inside trailer. Receives scores from hole reporters.

Runners - Good position for people willing to do a lot of walking and able to handle responsibility in a flexible manner.

Scoring Tent - Stationary position. Strong math skills, knowledge of golf scoring, ability to read scorecard needed.

Standard Bearer
(Fri, Sat & Sun Only)
Each bearer will be assigned a threesome of celebrities to walk with. You will carry a large sign to identify their arrival at each hole, their current scores and standings. You must be in good physical condition and prepared to carry a five pound sign throughout play and understand scoring.

Leader Board
(Fri, Sat & Sun Only)
Communicates with scorers and works in teams of four to post scores. Stationary position. Must be comfortable working on an elevated platform. Requires a working knowledge of golf and the scoring system.

Hole Reporter
(Fri, Sat & Sun Only)
Will communicate scores via radio to Scoring Control. Stationary position at each hole.

Volunteer Information

A 2008 tournament uniform is required for all volunteers. The official uniform package includes a golf shirt and an event-logoed golf cap or visor (wind jacket optional... extra shirts, caps and straw hats available at cost).

Volunteers are also required to wear khaki long shorts, khaki slacks, capri pants or khaki skirts with their uniform. Absolutely no denim (jeans) or short-shorts allowed.

All volunteers receive one guest ticket, in addition to their own complimentary admission, and lunch for each day worked.

Special Note: Each volunteer will earn a raffle ticket for each shift worked, with triple tickets awarded for working Thursday! Experienced volunteers will attest that we give excellent prizes that are awarded after the Volunteer “Thank You” party on Saturday, after play.

Volunteers will receive notification of their assignment by mid-June, unless we receive your application after June 1st. Volunteers will also be required to attend an orientation session and uniform pick-up meeting prior to the tournament.
