And the Winner is . . . Mark Rypien! Patience is a virtue for this Former NFL Quarterback. With 2nd Place finishes in 2012 and 2013 – Rypien, Washington Redskins Super Bowl XXVI MVP, stayed the course through Sunday’s 3 hour rain/lightning hold to win the 25 Year Silver Anniversary of NBC Sports’ American Century Championship. And Mark’s sweet spot – he was this Super Bowl of Celebrity Sports tournament’s first champion back in 1990. This ‘Old Dog’ has plenty of tricks left. Former NHL Center, and now 5-Time Champion Dan Quinn, birdied three of his first seven holes Sunday to pull ahead and then stretched his lead on the back nine to earn a six-point victory over former NFL quarterback Mark Rypien in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

The 2011 Tournament

Actor Jack Wagner birdied the par-3 17th hole and survived a bogey on the final hole for a 3-point win over Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo at the American Century Championship. Wagner outscored Romo, 80-77, to become the fourth multiple winner in the even’s 22-year history.

The 2010 Tournament

Billy Joe Tolliver, a former professional quarterback, was never challenged Sunday and claimed his third title at the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. Tolliver scored 26 points in the final round and finished with a record total 84 points, 19 points ahead of actor Jack Wagner and athletes John Elway, Tony Romo and John Smoltz, who were in a four-way tie for second place with 65 points.

The 2009 Tournament

With a total score of 74 points, former MLB Pitcher Rick Rhoden wins the 2009 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. This is his 8th celebrity championship, even though he posted a 2 over par round with 4 bogies and only 2 birdies for the day. This is the first time Rhoden has won this tournament in consecutive years.

The 2006 Tournament

What a finish! Actor Jack Wagner wins the 17th annual American Century Championship in dramatic fashion by sinking a 14 foot putt for birdie on the final hole. Wagner becomes the first non “professional athlete” to win this event and seemed very proud of that fact in his press conference.

The 2005 Tournament

Simply put, when he puts his mind to it, Billy Joe Tolliver plays good golf. And this year, for Tolliver, it was mind over matter as he wins this 3-day tournament of champions shooting a 28-28-20 (Stableford format). In regular stroke play, this equates to a 69-69-73 for the 3 rounds.

It came down to the final putt on 18 to determine the winner of the 15th annual American Century Championship. Rick Rhoden had an eagle putt to capture his 7th title, but it was Former Hockey Great Dan Quinn who tapped in for birdie and the $100,000 first place check. Quinn has now won 3 out of the last 4 Championship’s held at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Five time tournament champion, Rick Rhoden, earned $100,000 of the total $500,000 total ACCGC purse. Hampered by 50 mph wind gusts during rounds one and two, Rhoden still managed to finish with a 9 stroke lead, and is now the top money winner in Celebrity Golf.

Super Mario Lemieux, a retired hockey great, won the Isuzu for the first time in the event’s nine-year history Sunday, shooting a 3-under 69 at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Rhoden, a former Major League pitcher, won the Isuzu for the fourth time in the event’s eight-year history Sunday, shooting a 2-under 70 at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course as he cruised to a three-shot win over his playing partners, Dan Quinn and John Brodie. Rhoden finished at 9-under 207 for his 16th on the celebrity golf circuit.

The 1996 Isuzu Celebrity Golf Championship winner was pro football quarterback, Billy Joe Tolliver. In Sunday’s exciting 3rd round at Edgewood Tahoe, Billy Joe claimed the Championship with a 4-stroke lead over his nearest competitor, Donny Anderson.
