Career Highlights: Trent Edwards has spent the past three seasons at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills…While the 2009 season was plagued with challenges, including a concussion and an ankle injury, Edwards persevered. He threw 110 completions for 183 attempts with 1169 yards and six touchdowns. Drafted by the Bills in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft, the 27-year-old Edwards was named to the NFL All-Rookie team in 2007…He made his NFL debut on September 23, 2007 against the New England Patriots, after Bills’ starter J.P. Losman was injured in the first quarter…Edwards went 10 for 20 passing attempts for 97 yards…He was the first quarterback from the 2007 draft class to play in the NFL… In his first NFL start the following week against the New York Jets, he went 22 for 28 with 234 yards, one touchdown and one interception and led the Bills to their first win in the 2007 season…His first NFL touchdown was a one-yard play action pass on fourth and goal to Michael Gaines…Plagued by a wrist injury, Edwards missed several games, but came back in a game against the Washington Redskins where he led them to his first fourth-quarter comeback, completing three passes to set up the game-winning field goal, for which he was named NFL Rookie of the Week…The next week versus the Miami Dolphins, Edwards passed for 165 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to lead to the Bills to a 38-17 win…In his two NFL seasons, Edwards has 396 completions on 643 passing attempts for a total of 4,329 passing yards and a .616 completion percentage…He has 18 touchdowns, 18 interceptions and a .791 quarterback rating…Edwards spent his college career at Stanford, where he was plagued by several injuries…He was named Sporting News Freshman All-Pac 10 in 2003 and the Stanford Cardinal Team MVP in 2005…Despite Stanford’s poor performance during his tenure as starting quarterback, Edwards was a highly-touted quarterback prospect in the 2007 NFL Draft due to his arm strength, accuracy and intelligence…Edwards was a highly-rated recruit from Los Gatos High School (CA) and was ranked as the #1 pro-style quarterback by USA Today in 2001…In his junior and senior seasons, he led Los Gatos to two undefeated seasons and back-to-back Central Coast Section Division III Championships…In his senior year, Edwards completed 154 of 213 passes for 2,535 yards, 29 touchdowns, three interceptions and was named as National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete for Santa Clara County.
